Adoption Evaluations

In order to be able to adopt, individuals and couples need to undergo a psychological evaluation to assess their readiness to parent. While each adoption agency has their own requirements and guidelines, a typical evaluation consists of a clinical interview with each parent and administration of specific psychological tests.

The psychological tests usually assess each parents personality type, coping skills, emotional stability, and ultimate capacity to provide a loving home for a child. My goal for every adoption evaluation is to assess each parent's candidacy for adoption and to provide guidance to the parents about how to develop a caring, safe and nurturing relationship with their adopted child.
